I am a PhD student in the center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University, Camden, with a direct interest in Machine Learning and Bioinformatics. I completed my bachelor’s in Computer Science and Engineering from United International University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. After completing my BSc I worked as a Machine Learning Engineer for almost two years. My passion and motivation involve trying to find a solution to complex biological problems. In my leisure time, I try to quench my thirst for knowledge by reading or investigating any topic that occupies my mind.
Mr. Gennaro Calendo
Ph.D. Graduate Student
I am a PhD student at the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology at Rutgers University, Camden. I completed my Undergraduate in Neuroscience as well as my Master’s in Bioinformatics both at Temple University. Before transitioning to a full time bioinformatics scientist position at the Coriell Institute, where I am currently employed, I worked in a translational medicine laboratory studying the treatment of traumatic brain and lung injury in large animal models. My current research interests include machine learning, epigenetics, aging, and cancer. In my free time I like to play guitar, hike, read, and learn new things.
Mr. Vahid Khalkhali
Ph.D. Graduate Student
As a PhD student in the Center of Computational and Integrative Biology, we research and develop artificial intelligence systems with applications in biology. I received my BSc and MSc in electrical engineering, telecommunication. I worked on several biomedical signal and image processing projects with deep learning. MLBC gives me the opportunity to investigate genomics with machine learning. I like to spend my spare time with my wife and my son.
Abhinita S. Mohanty
Ph.D. Graduate Student
I am a first year PHD student at CCIB. I currently work as Senior Computational Biologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. I am interested in the field of genomics and how machine learning approaches can advance the analysis of various diseases. I am a pandemic gardner, love to read, and learn & teach new languages to my twins.
Mr. Derek Wang
Ph.D. Graduate Student
I am a PhD student at the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology. I completed my bachelor’s in biology with a minor in computational biology at Carnegie Mellon University. During my undergrad, I did research at two labs studying oxidative RNA damage and bacterial phylogeny. Currently, I am interested in analyzing genomics data and have interests in machine learning as well. I enjoy playing ping pong, badminton, outdoor activities, and gaming.
Mr. Austin Spadaro
Ph.D. Graduate Student
I am a PhD student with the Center for Computational and Integrative Biology, and my research revolves around machine learning and bioinformatics. As an undergraduate student, I studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rutgers University–New Brunswick, and I am currently working in the telecommunications industry. In addition to being a husband and father, my personal interests are playing chess and working on side programming projects.
Mr. Ojobo Agbo Eje
M.S. Graduate Student
Hello! I’m Ojobo Agbo Eje, a Masters student (Data Science). Presently, my interests include machine learning, cancer, technology business and artificial intelligence adoption in healthcare. I have a Bachelors in Materials Engineering and an MBA, prior to Rutgers-Camden, I had worked in technology consulting for eight years. In my spare time, I play soccer, read, practice photography, or spend time with my wife.
Mr. Harsh Gujarathi
M.S. Graduate Student
I’m a Master’s student in Data Science at Rutgers University. My inspiration for Machine Learning and AI stems from a deep-seated curiosity about data’s transformative potential, coupled with an awareness of its demand in the job market and an appreciation for its interdisciplinary nature. I started my academic journey by studying Mechanical Engineering for my bachelor’s degree in 2021. During that time, I led a student project group called RUGVED, where I learned about Artificial Intelligence and data analysis. After graduating, I worked for two years in data engineering, where I learned how to handle data – collecting it, storing it, and processing it. Now, I’m excited to dive deeper into the world of data science and AI.
Eshaa Gogia
M.S. Graduate Student
I’m Eshaa Gogia, armed with an MS in Data Science from Rutgers University, currently continuing my research at the Center of Computational and Integrative Biology. My work lies at the intersection of Al, machine learning, and bioinformatics. From applying deep learning to neuroimaging to designing AI-powered tools for drug interaction insights, I am passionate about transforming insights for creating impact. My goal is to bridge computation and life sciences to create meaningful impact in healthcare and beyond.
